Artist
My name is Ariana Nevoienna, and I am a professional nail artist with over 8 years of experience. I am a licensed Nail Technician and Cosmetology Teacher in the U.S.
I have competed and won awards at international nail competitions, including Nailympia, Global Talent Beauty Competition, United Beauty Awards, and World Beauty Championship. I have also worked as a nail artist during New York Fashion Week. My work has been featured in professional beauty publications, including Scratch Magazine. I also enjoy teaching and sharing my experience with other nail artists.
The Works
Indigo
This piece sits on the line between human and bird. The nails are an extension of the plumage: a pearlized glaze over an almond form that repeats the shifting blue of a feather, until the hand stops reading as a hand. The gesture at the face both hides and reveals, the way a wing shelters what it covers.
The manicure is treated as part of the costume and as a sculptural object in its own right. The color is built from a single pigment at different densities, from dense cobalt in the feathers to a transparent glass finish on the nails. It is a work about transformation, and about the artist's right to create a creature.
